Enugu DisCo ranked seventh among Nigeria’s 11 distribution companies in the electricity load allocation for 28 October 2026 (11:28 a.m.), receiving 245 megawatts out of a total of 3,203MW. That is about 7.6% of the national allocation, and it makes the company the Southeast’s biggest claim on the grid.
Where Enugu Stands
Enugu DisCo sits 11MW behind Benin DisCo (256MW) and 65MW behind Port Harcourt DisCo (310MW). It is ahead of Kano (173MW), Kaduna (167MW), Jos (146MW) and Yola (74MW), and its allocation is more than three times Yola’s.
Abuja DisCo received the most at 613MW (19.1%), while Yola had the least at 74MW (2.3%). Abuja, Ikeja (424MW) and Eko (417MW) together took 45.4% of the total.
Enugu Disco Powering the East
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) began operating in November 2013, one of eleven distribution companies created when the Power Holding Company of Nigeria was unbundled. It serves Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States. The company has said its customer base is about 1.3 million.
Following the Electricity Act 2023, EEDC allowed subsidiaries to take over distribution in the region, with MainPower in Enugu, FirstPower in Anambra and TransPower in Imo.
For a region with dense commercial centres such as Onitsha, Owerri, Nnewi and Enugu city, the 245MW allocation sets the ceiling on supply to homes, markets and industry, and many customers will be watching how much of it actually reaches them.
