Beneficiaries of the Abia Techrise Cohort, a tech-driven initiative by the state government, embarked on an awareness march promoting civic responsibility and urging Ndi Abia to collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing Journalists during the exercise, the founder of LearnFactory Nigeria and convener of the Abia Techrise Programme, Engr. Chibueze Ukaegbu, said the rally was designed to motivate people to collect their PVCs and show their appreciation for the Otti administration.
“The essence of this rally is to sensitise Abia residents on the need to obtain their PVCs ahead of the 2027 General Elections,” Ukaegbu said.
“We also want to thank the Governor for the Techrise initiative because good governance deserves continuity.
“We thank Governor Alex Otti for believing in us and providing a platform for us to acquire 21st-century digital skills.
“The training has given us the opportunity to acquire skills that will make us relevant players in the emerging global economy driven by technology,” Engr. Ukaegbu added.
The Abia Techrise Programme Coordinator recalled that every participant of the programme was empowered with a laptop and world-class training. This was across various tech-driven ventures. He expressed gratitude for the empowerment by the Otti administration. He also stressed the importance of such initiatives in building the society and creating employment.
The awareness campaign was themed “Abia Techrise Alumni Homecoming and Community Appreciation Walk. It featured hundreds of beneficiaries marching through the streets in the state.
Ukaegbu recalled that over 1500 youths passed through the program and were prime beneficiaries of the initiative.
Otti’s Renewed Drive for Technological Excellence
The Abia TechRise is an elite, fully residential advanced digital skills programme for Abia youth. The initiative aligns with Dr. Alex Otti’s agenda for youths in the state. It is also the second major youth-focused programme after the successful Abia Leadership Academy.
The Southeast is notorious for voter apathy, steadily recording very abysmal voting numbers over the years. Awareness Campaigns like the one carried out by the Techrise Beneficiaries are an active way to rekindle interest in politics. They also remind Nigerians of their civic responsibilities.
