The governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, has described Peter Obi as a statesman and a leader while felicitating with him on his 65th birthday.
The Abia governor took to social media to share his birthday message for the former governor of Anambra State and now presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Alex Otti was the biggest beneficiary of the Obi wave in 2023, riding the Labour Party’s momentum to secure the governorship of Abia State against all odds. He ended the People’s Democratic Party’s over-two-decade hold on Abia’s political base, dismantling the godfatherism complex that was fully active in the state.
Otti has remained in the Labour Party despite Obi leaving the party to seek a stable platform to run for the presidency in 2027. He remains the highest office holder in the Labour Party and has succeeded in influencing the chairmanship of Mrs Nenadi Usman, getting rid of rival factions in the party.
