Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, saying the country’s democratic system has helped promote unity, participation, and national growth.
In his Democracy Day message, Uzodimma said democracy has given Nigerians the opportunity to make collective decisions and has contributed to many of the achievements recorded across the country. He noted that through dialogue, participation, and a shared desire for progress, citizens have continued to strengthen the nation’s foundation.
” From a just system of governance to the practice of inclusiveness in the journey of our national Development, democracy has presented us with choices that are unifying and collective, giving rise to the achievements we have recorded thus far,” Uzodimma said
” As a people, we have continued to strengthen the foundations of nation-building through participation, dialogue, and a shared commitment to progress. While enormous gaps remain to be filled in our nation’s development, we cannot deny that we have achieved greatness.” He said.
The governor acknowledged that Nigeria still faces several development challenges. However, he said the country has made notable progress over the years. According to him, the democratic process has helped sustain a system driven by the people, while efforts are continually being made to improve governance and national development.
Uzodimma stated that Nigeria’s democratic journey has not been free from difficulties. However, he said the country has repeatedly shown resilience, determination, and the ability to grow despite the challenges.
Speaking on the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The governor said that reforms introduced under the Renewed Hope agenda are bringing about change across sectors. He added that the reforms are aimed at creating opportunities, giving citizens hope, and supporting economic growth.
The governor also described Tinubu as a committed democrat. He said he played a role in the struggle that led to the democratic system Nigerians enjoy today.
Uzodimma urged Nigerians to continue to believe in the country’s democratic institutions. He urged them to support ideas and policies that promote unity, stability, and national development.
He wished citizens a happy Democracy Day and called for continued commitment to building a better Nigeria.
