Abia State Governor Alex Otti has shown concern for the welfare of construction workers during an inspection of the ongoing Governor’s Office and Residence project at the Government House Complex in Umuahia.
While visiting the site, the governor stopped to interact with the workers and asked about their well-being.
He sought to know if they were happy with their jobs and whether they were being treated well while carrying out their duties on the project.
Otti also spoke with the workers about their next assignment, informing them that they would continue work at the airport project site after completing their current task.
The governor further demonstrated his concern for the workers by providing them with lunch during the visit.
The inspection formed part of his visit to monitor ongoing work at the Government House project, which is currently under construction in the state capital.
Alex Otti is known for his down-to-earth approach to governance, opting to interact with Ndi Abia directly and openly. His stellar performance in road infrastructure, Foreign Direct Investment, Electricity, and Partnerships has earned him a solid organic political base and growing national appeal.
Despite heavy opposition from the ruling All Progressives Congress, Otti remains the favourite to win the 2027 Abia State gubernatorial polls. Running on the platform of the Labour Party, Otti remains the highest office holder in the party and was instrumental in the resurrection of Nenadi Usman as the party’s official chairman.
The banker-turned-Governor rode to victory in 2023, riding on the massive Peter Obi-induced political wave. He defeated Chief Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party, the dominant party in the state at the time.
