Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has restated his commitment to inclusive governance and development across the state’s communities.
The governor made this known on Thursday during the state government’s community engagement program held at the Ugwunagbo Local Government headquarters in Abia State.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Otti said his administration would continue to focus on policies and projects that reflect the people’s needs. He explained that the government prefers to make decisions based on direct interaction with residents rather than on assumptions.
According to him, the community engagement program was created to help government officials understand the specific needs and challenges facing each local government area. He said every community in the state has different issues that require attention.
Otti said the government remains committed to transparent and accountable leadership. His administration is working to deliver lasting development in different sectors of the state.
He also urged residents to remain active in the democratic process by registering to vote. He urged them to also obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor assured residents that their concerns would be considered. He added that community engagement remains an important part of his administration’s development plans.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Chijioke Uruakpa, representing Ugwunagbo State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, and Architect Chiemela Uzoije, the Commissioner for Housing, commented on the development. They praised the governor’s performance in office and called for support for his second-term ambition in 2027.
The Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA, Hon. Chiemela Iheanacho, also commended the governor for ongoing projects and developments in the area. He pledged continued support for the Labor Party administration and candidates in future elections.
Chairman of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Eze Linus Nto Mbah, listed some achievements of the Otti administration. He included the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road and free education from primary through secondary school. Then, the employment of teachers and the regular payment of workers’ salaries.
