Governor Peter Mbah has announced that the Enugu International Hospital has reached 85 percent completion
Mbah, in a post on his X page, described the project as a major step toward improving healthcare services in the state.
According to the governor, the hospital is being developed to meet international standards and improve confidence in the healthcare system within Enugu State.
He said the facility is no longer just a proposed idea but a project already taking shape.
Mbah stated that the hospital is being equipped with modern medical facilities and advanced technology. This will provide quality healthcare services, medical research, emergency treatment, and specialized care.
He added that the environment is also being designed to place patients’ comfort, safety, and well-being first.
The governor explained that the hospital is expected to serve not only residents of Enugu State but also patients from other parts of Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.
“Beyond serving Ndi Enugu, this hospital is positioned to attract patients from across Nigeria, Africa, and the world. It represents hope for families seeking quality care, confidence for medical professionals, and a future where our people no longer need to look beyond our borders for advanced healthcare services”, he wrote.
He said the project would give families better access to quality healthcare. The project will also create opportunities for medical professionals to work in a modern environment.
He also said the hospital would help reduce the need for medical tourism by wealthy Nigerians.
Mbah stated that no state can achieve growth and development without healthy citizens. He added that the project represents the future the government wants for the people of Enugu State.
Governor Peter Mbah officially flagged off the construction of the Enugu International Hospital in November 2024.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, he said that the 300-bed facility was designed to make Enugu a hub for medical tourism. The goal is to also reduce the need for Nigerians to travel abroad for specialized healthcare
