The Southeast Venture Capital program, SEVCP, will hold its finals and Awards ceremony on May 25 and 26, marking the end of the N70 billion Venture Capital Fund by the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC).
The pitch competition has advanced past its first stage, in which over 1,000 applications were whittled down to 209. The 209 applications have been narrowed to 100, and these will be screened for the final winners.
There are two categories of winners for this competition. The incubator category has a potential $5,000 prize money, while the accelerator category has $20,000. The competition is open to selected tech fields, with technology as the primary focus.
The Finals and the award ceremony are a two-day event held towards the end of this month. It is strictly by invitation, and attendees are required to register for the event beforehand.

The SEVCP is the first material deliverable of the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC) after many months of strategic planning and stakeholder engagement. The SEDC CEO, Mark Okoye, believes that startups in eastern Nigeria suffer from a lack of access to capital and that the private and public sectors can address this issue by getting involved.
