The Enugu State government, under the aegis of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA), is set to hold its first housing investment summit, the Enugu Housing Investment Promotion Summit (TEHIPS), next month.
The summit is the state’s latest attempt to woo investors, developers and real estate stakeholders to the state, aligned with the vision to turn Enugu into the melting point of the eastern region.
The TEHIPS event is a two-day event slated for 21st and 22nd May. It will be held at the International Conference Centre in Enugu. All stakeholders in Enugu’s real estate market and beyond will attend and share value with prospective investors and developers.
According to ESIDA managing director Ken Nnamani, the chief host of the event is Enugu Governor Peter Mbah. He is set to welcome all potential investors, developers, and realtors to the state.
Enugu’s housing market is defined by a surge in luxury housing and aggressive urban expansion. High-end developments in Independence Layout and GRA are commanding record prices, fueled by the state’s “New City” infrastructure initiatives.
Rental demand remains high due to a growing tech and service sector. Affordability remains a mounting challenge for middle-income earners. The market is shifting toward gated estates and serviced apartments. This reflects a preference for security and stable utilities in the Coal City.
Enugu’s Multi-Sector Approach to Industrialisation
Enugu’s attempt to promote migration and urban settlement follows similar efforts across various fields. Last month, the Mbah administration launched a tech hardware manufacturing facility in the heart of the state. This was done in collaboration with the Chinese Haier Group, a worthy partner.
The facility is enugu’s attempt to add tech manufacturing to its growing list of revenue drivers and employer of labour. The Haier Group facility is getting a jumpstart from the Enugu Government. The government ordered thousands of tablets for kids in Enugu Smart Schools.
The facility will also serve as a hub for innovation, acquiring tech skills and manufacturing tech products and gadgets. Enugu under Peter Mbah is characterised by bold ideas and vision. This follows the view that the state is very important to its region and to Nigeria as a whole.
