The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, unveiled a new ” Solution” market in Ekwulobia alongside a bus terminal in the growing suburb in Anambra State.
The Governor stressed the importance of the two self-styled facilities and how they contribute to the development of the Ekwulobia suburb. He added that the projects were part of his administration’s urban regeneration agenda aimed at transforming Anambra’s urban landscape.
“What we are commissioning today is consistent with the APGA mantra of ‘leave no one behind’. The Solution Market, alongside the modern park equipped with amenities, aims to create an environment that stimulates economic activity while improving the quality of life for residents.
“This new marketplace is notably the third built by the state government to cater to the specific needs.” Soludo said.
The Anambra governor explained that the new solution market in Ekwulobia was constructed to accommodate traders who will be displaced by the new Ekwulobia flyover, nearing completion. He added that the market is modelled after what a modern market should look like, with state-of-the-art amenities in place.
He pointed out that the ‘Solution Park’ promises to revamp Ekwulobia’s urban settings previously marked by desolation, adding, “We are doing a fundamental urban regeneration.” Additionally, he listed the amenities that come with the new part, including open spaces for parking, a park for leisure, solar power installations, canteen facilities, and a reliable water supply.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Markets, Chief Evarist Ubah, added to the official statement by the governor, saying that the new facilities have completed the urbanization process of Ekwulobia. Ekwulobia is one of the largest cities in Anambra, after Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi, and serves as the headquarters of Aguata LGA, alongside Aguluezechukwu.
