The commercial city of Onitsha, well known for the bustle of raw business activities, is shedding its scales to wear a new look unrecognisable by people who know the city well.
From new hotels to exciting events and concerts, Onitsha is finally recognising its youthful demographic and creating a space where they can do all the fun things their peers in Lagos and Abuja are doing.
On the day of the global celebration of love, some genius Onitsha residents, led by the Onitsha Business Hangout, launched the city’s first-ever boat cruise, sparking a new conversation about leisure and outdoor activities in Onitsha.
Clad in all white like the famous Tony Elumelu end of the year party. The geniuses cruised in their speedboat along the banks of the river niger, passing under the Nigeria bridge with loud music and hype.
The event was well coordinated, and the crew even had a security man on board the speedboat to keep things in order.
The reaction to this move was a mixture of surprise and amusement. The River Niger has always been here in the city ,but this is an interesting use of the natural water body capable of opening up an entire new market in the city.
Netizens flooded social media with reactions to this new spectacle. INFOEAST carefully curated the ten best comments on the development for your reading pleasure.
