The Abakaliki Township Stadium was agog yesterday as the Enviable Group Football Tournament reached its peak with a grand finale attended by the State Governor, Francis Nwifuru.
The highlight of the event was the final match between Ohaukwu Local Government Area and Ezza North Local Government Area, which ended in a 3:0 win for the former.
The football tournament organised by Enviable Group serves as a perfect example of how companies can leverage Community Social Responsibility (CSR) to give back to the community and effect change.
The Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Barrister Francis Nwifuru; CEO of Enviable Group, Mr Enviable Ituma; and Chairman of Cubana Group, Mr Obinna Iyiegbu, graced the grand finale, serving as the key hosts of the event.
Speaking on his experience, Nwifuru lauded Enviable Group for its CSR efforts, describing the project as a good example of what happens when Private institutions engage the public and invest in their immediate communities.
” I commend one of Ebonyi’s illustrious sons, Enviable Ituma, for this laudable initiative. This tournament is a clear demonstration of what is possible when private individuals align with our vision for youth engagement and sports development. I also appreciate all the stakeholders, football enthusiasts and supporters who contributed to the success of this memorable event,” says Nwifuru.
” As a government, we remain committed to creating an enabling environment for sports development, where talents can be discovered, nurtured and showcased. Our investment in sports infrastructure and policies is deliberately designed to encourage initiatives like this that positively engage our youth, promote peace, and open doors to greater opportunities.” He added.
Nwifuru congratulated the victors of the grand finale and appreciated the fans and supporters who showed up for the event.
