The governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, hosted a New Year’s crossover service to mark the beginning of the new year.
Nwifuru commended Ndi Ebonyi for supporting his administration while reiterating his commitment to deliver purposeful leadership as promised in his manifesto.
” Last night, I had the honour of hosting Ndi Ebonyi at our 2025/2026 New Year Crossover Service, a deeply moving moment of thanksgiving and reflection as we committed the future of our dear State into the hands of God.
” We began with a Holy Mass, followed by heartfelt praise and worship, thanking God for His protection, grace, and guidance throughout the past year. I am sincerely grateful to everyone who joined us to usher in the new year in unity and faith.
” I thank Ndi Ebonyi for your unwavering support, resilience, and belief in our shared vision. As we step into 2026, I reaffirm my commitment to purposeful leadership and the actualisation of a peaceful, prosperous, and more developed Ebonyi State.” Nwifuru said.
The crossover night service is a common trend in Nigeria, where people choose to start the new year in the presence of the Lord at their various places of worship.
Governor Nwifuru hosted Ebonyi’s version of this annual event and used it as an opportunity to make a political statement ahead of the new year.
However, the Nwifuru administration has been relatively uneventful, with very little human capital development and capital projects ongoing in the state.
Last year, a Bulgarian Pharmaceutical company made moves to set up a 1,200-bed hospital in Ebonyi State. The firm Neuropharma hopes to become the most significant foreign direct investment in the state’s health sector.
