The Imo State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Aboki Danjuma, announced new measures to tighten security in the state ahead of the Yuletide celebrations.

Announcing via the official X page of the command, DSP Okoye Henry, Imo state’s PPRO, revealed the strategy initiated by Danjuma to upscale security in the state during the Yuletide.

” The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has emplaced a watertight security across Imo State, in synergy with sister security agencies, to ensure the safety of all Imolites, residents, and visitors during the festive season and beyond,” says Okoye

” Accordingly, the Commissioner of Police has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Team Commanders to remain on maximum alert to prevent any form of security breach within their areas of responsibility.” He added.

The Police Public Relations Officer revealed that, in addition to the directive to area commanders. Okoye announced the activation of specialised tactical units, patrol teams, and rapid response officers for round-the-clock monitoring across the state.

Police traffic wardens are also deployed to complement the efforts of road safety officers in addressing traffic congestion in the Owerri metropolis. The Command wished all imolites a happy Christmas celebration and a prosperous new year.

They urged imolites to be security-conscious over the holidays to prevent mishaps or security hazards. Owerri is a popular tourist destination in the eastern region, thanks to its robust hospitality sector. The state has also added key tourist sites, including an artificial beach in Owerri for beach lovers.
